My present motivation is to create physical compositions inspired by the world of digital technology and media.
Where some artists might see a woman sitting in a cafe and endeavor to
paint her - resulting in a physical monument to a moment in time and
space, I seek to capture events and behaviors in and around the online,
digital and start-up culture; memorializing such instantaneous and ethereal happenings
long enough for us to pause and consider the meaning and significance
of an otherwise fleeting, byte-driven occurrence.
Such passions are fueled by a two-decade career in digital media, technology and start-ups. A profession where my creativity was typically expressed through the development of software/digital applications that solved problems via the collection and sharing of information between humans.
From my experiences grew an immutable need to produce tangible objects with my hands - compositions of physical media inspired by my observations and personal experiences spanning a range of human behaviors and themes across the digital realm.
Whether my work composes a random individual's Avatar, Tweets or Facebook posts; visual arrangements of open source programming languages; or symbolic testimonies to the pursuit of innovation my goal remains the same: use art to explore how we as humans evolve and communicate amidst two ever intersecting and expanding worlds: the physical and the digital.
